Surviving the coldest months
Dear reader,
It’s bitter cold in the northeast. Temperatures are below freezing and every time I breathe I feel like it hangs heavy in the air. My shoulders tend to remain tense. Release, I remind myself, let go of the stress in your body.
If you’ve known me for longer than a year, then you know winter is my most challenging season. It feels suffocating in some ways. Like the lack of sunshine cuts off the oxygen to my mind and body. While I learn and grow every winter, this winter I am really trying to lean into myself. I want to spend honest time investing in myself. Filling the dark voids with things that encourage presence, movement, creativity. Meditation, walking, creating.
I have learned that, if I dress appropriately, getting outside isn't so bad. In fact, I can actually enjoy myself. Find presence in the cold wind pressed against my face. Calm in snow-covered paths. And awe in the winter sunsets. If I dress appropriately, I can move out of my mind, and more into my body.

Where I found beauty this week:

This ramen recipe was everything.
The sunset in the snow (pictured above).
Listening to this playlist as I stretch every night.
