The word collect means to bring together things, typically scattered or widespread things. To Gather, accumulate, assemble, stockpile, store. For a long time, I have considered myself an avid collector. And I realize that’s sort of a different word to use inside of creative practice. In this episode, I want to talk about the act of collecting—what it means for me to be in process. Because I think it’s the act of collecting, and deciphering what I collect, to turn it into material that is process.
This feels like spoken words of permission for those of us who follow our passions without expected or predetermined outcomes, who grab the marrow of ideas even when they look messy and disordered, and who don’t rush our process based on expected timelines. Your delivery of thoughts and information, as always, exemplifies your deeply reflective visions and self understanding and indicates your ability to look inward rather than outward for direction. I believe that art asks that of us, that we use our creative spark in our own way. Thank you for the honest way you share your practice here. I cannot be the only one who nodded along as you spoke your truths! 😉
