I am an avid reader. I loved getting lost in books as a kid - building worlds in my mind, meeting new characters, and discovering their story. It took me a couple of years to get back into reading as an adult. I actually had to practice focus. Five years into my beloved reading habit, I read more now than ever. I love tracking the books I read and finding others to discuss books with.
Thanks, Nathan. I’ve written so many of these over the years and I think this is the first time it flowed. I used to write short blurbs about the book but it felt redundant when I could include a link to a more official place that does that. Let me know if you decide to pick any of them up!
Loved reading this list, Lauren! I’ve never read an Emily Henry book I didn’t love. I recommend Falon Ballard’s novels Just My Type and Lease On Love if you love EH books - they’re just as wonderful! 📚
Hi Jen! I read Lease on Love last year per your recommendation and loved it! I’m really a sucker for quick, easy, lighthearted reads 🖤 adding Just My Type to my library holds now - thank you! Anything you have shelved for the summer?
I’m currently reading my way through Emma Lord’s books - on a bit of a YA kick at the moment for easy and joyful lighthearted reads. Also have Meet Me At The Lake by Carley Fortune, That Summer Feeling by Bridget Morrissey, and The Summer Of Broken Rules by K. L. Walther on my bedside waiting for me too! Also - have you read any Jasmine Guillory novels? I think she’s tied with Emily Henry as my favourite romance writer!
I am finally reading a book that my brother recommended to me more than a year ago. I really enjoy science fiction and I am sure I will fall deep into this story.
In 2019, I read The Edge of the Sea by Rachel Carson. It was after I attempted to read Silent Spring but couldn’t quite make it through an overly scientific read. I loved Rachel Carson’s life story and wanted to give her literature another go. I am happily returning to this piece of literature in hopes to complete the entire series. It’s also informing recent studies and my fine art work.
+ Unraveling the Body's Secret, How Your Body Keeps the Score: Understanding the Hidden Connections between Trauma, Stress and Physical Health
I found this book via a recommendation at the end of Everyday is a Poem by Jacqueline Suskin. I am listening to the audiobook version and find learning about the history of trauma and the bodies way of handling trauma fascinating.
Hi Solas! Sorry for my delay, I didn’t see your comment initially. I really enjoy reading on my kindle. I do have the membership but I’m thinking about cancelling. At this point, I read digital books from my library 99% of the time.
Love the short reviews, Lauren. A great way of doing this. I don't know any of these books, though I know various of the authors.

Will do! 😊

I have an old copy of The Edge of the Sea and have been meaning to read it for ages!
