It is interesting to read more on the concept of in-between :) We are working on our next exhibition with my artist collective, and the words I picked were "in-between" and "emotions". I wrote a short piece to get going on these words as they beautifully connect—the in-between spaces of our emotions, the untranslateable emotions. Of course, there are more widely known emotions that we all know of and experience throughout our lives, such as anger, fear, calmness, and joy, but there are also these in-between emotions that we feel but can't explain. We can't find the right words, and maybe there are no words to describe these emotions. Even with over a million words in the English language, sometimes we must search beyond our language for the perfect word to capture our experience. Thank you, Lauren and yes, let us enjoy and feel the in-between spaces and emotions in our lives.
How cool the “in between” is a part of your next exhibition! There are in-between emotions. I know exactly what you’re talking about, though I do often struggle to find something in my language to define it. Reminds me of my reflections on language and how maybe sometimes things are just meant to be felt and not explained.
It’s funny t see that once again our paths are mirroring 😀 those « in between » moments are so full of fresh air even if there can be uncomfortable, there are part of the process
I love the fresh air metaphor—because when I really reflect on all my thresholds that is what they feel like. A moment to pull my head up out of the water before swimming again.
